Im saddened to hear that another friend lost her brother to suicide, after he dealt with two decades of drug use and depression. Lynn Carey Saylor wrote the words to Hold on and Breathe performed by Charissa Mrowka, who I contacted after seeing her video on American Foundation for Suicide Preventions feed in 2010. Charissa lost a friend to suicide and part of the proceeds from their song continue to benefit AFSP. They both gave permission for us to use their song for our promo video for our first annual Seeds of Hope 5K Community Walk in 2010 to benefit UWF Active Minds (formerly Students for Suicide Awareness). My heart goes out to Lynn and her family at this time, as we prepare for our 5th annual walk in conjunction with Seville Quarters Annual Turkey Trot 5k Run on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 10am on International Survivors of Suicide Day. It takes a community coming together, it takes people talking about it, until one day we can live in a world without that kind of pain. Suicide is preventable. Please come out and support our walk on Saturday, Nov. 22 - we are looking for sponsors to help pay for cost of shirts, police escort, food and more, and volunteers to help. Message me.
