Im selling my 97 EX. It has 134k on it. Parents, if you are contemplating buying this for your teenager, there is something you should know. This civic comes equipped with the d16y8 engine. Thats right. If youre not familiar with this performance oriented power plant, Im here to tell you; when the vtec pops, things get serious in a hurry. Stomp the skinny pedal without the proper training, and this car will get out of hand. I have managed to keep her shiny side up thanks to my catlike reflexes and ninja instincts. With that said, as long as you treat the car with the proper amount of respect and drive like a grown-up, you can keep it between the lines and realize some pretty good fuel economy. Everything on the car works and I have never had any major issues with it. Its a golden age civic, and they are tough to kill. The only complaint I have about the car is the clutch chatters on the first couple engagements of the day. Strange, I know. Once you engage it a couple times, it behaves normally. I have a new exedy clutch and a new flywheel that I have been too lazy to install. These will go with the car, or I can install them for the paltry sum of $200.
