Im sitting here at the computer and hurting some, but counting my blessings. Its been an exciting week and a half. First off, Im thankful when the horse I was riding abt 1.5 weeks ago didnt leave quite enough room between me and the tree trunk, that it was my shin instead of my knee that took the hit. Second, another time when I was riding this week, I was busy bending/breaking one branch we were passing under, when another branch I didnt notice almost poked out my left eye. Its been red, and it hurt a lot, but I can still see. Thirdly, Im glad my finger only was smashed badly and not broken, when someone elses horse expolded in the cross tie, momentarily pinning my finger against the post. And last but not least, today, our lives were spared, on the way to Church. A car pulled out in front of us from the Baptist Church parking lot as we were traveling north on Hwy 9. Russ swerved away from oncoming lane and was trying to miss this guy, but he slowed and stopped, so we hit the back passenger side of his car (fortunately he had no passengers) and went bouncing off over the curb, plowed into a post and into the VERY busy and full parking lot of the Baptist Church where everyone was leaving their services. I dont ever think I have been this scared. I got quite the jolt hitting the curb and the post, which I thot was coming right thru the windshield... somehow it went under the car, but it and all of the cement was uprooted. After we passed thru that, we were headed directly for several other cars, but somehow Russ swerved our car violently and finally got it stopped. Air bags deployed but mine never reached me... faulty, I think. I didnt realized they give off a powdery substance (Russ told me after wards...) so I thot we were smoking and on fire.... So I undid my seatbelt before we were totally stopped, screamed at him to jump out and thats what I did. Had trouble moving though cause my whole abdomen was hurting, but I did it anyway cause I thot we were going to blow up!! A very nice couple from that Church stayed with us and brought us back home when the paramedics were done with me and the police were done getting their paperwork done. Naturally the car is totalled, mainly my side... I think I will have nighmares for awhile, but blessed to walk away from it.
