Im sitting in the same spot that I was 1 year ago when my life changed. I got a phone call from a nurse telling me that I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Ill never forget her words, It is breast cancer. Its infiltrating ductal carcinoma, intermediate grade, and is in the lymph nodes. Heres a number you need to call. After I fell to pieces on the floor, I picked myself up and never felt more determined, strong, scared, pissed off, or overwhelmed in my life. Its amazing how it only takes half a second for your entire world to change. I went from having my only worry being what I was gonna do that weekend to having to fight for my life. My first thought was, how are my family and friends going to handle this? So I made it a point to make it as easy on everyone as possible. Thank you for being the most amazing support system possible. I couldnt have done it without you. The past year has been full of tears, laughs, fear, strength, support, and countless dr appointments. We had a bye bye booby party then a bye bye cancer party. I had 3 surgeries, 16 rounds of chemo, and 33 rounds of radiation. My body endured cuts, pokes, poisons, and burns. I lost my hair, my boobs, and gained weight. But what happened mentally and emotionally was so much harder. I have grown into a woman that Im proud of and I have cancer to thank for it. Thank you to everyone who has been by my side the last year, its been quite a wild ride. Cheers!
