Im so cheap, I never pay the high prices at movie theaters ($8.50 for a senior citizen for the 1 PM show?!). I wait for the film to arrive at Redbox or Netflix! So, last night I FINALLY watched DALLAS BUYERS CLUB. No mistake that Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto won Oscars. Some of the best acting I have ever seen. Ever. And both are largely self-trained. Very inspiring. Makes me want to try harder...On the other hand I also watched AMERICAN HUSTLE. Again, great acting but a very confused and convoluted script..even unbelievable at times. In one tense scene, Robert DeNiro, a Mafia boss, starts speaking fluent Arabic to an FBI agent trying to lure him into a trap while pretending to be an Arab investor, but he didnt speak the language. Nothing happens! Do you think a real gangster would have done anything less than kill the guy? But in this movie, he just walks away. Warning: dont watch this film if you are tired or preoccupied. Otherwise, you risk drifting away...which would be a shame because it is worth the price of admission (or the rental fee!) to watch 23 year old Jennifer Lawrence, another self-trained actor, do her thing. What a talent!
