Im so glad that we still have Daylight Savings. Its seven in the morning, and the stars are still out. Im saving lots of electricity this morning. But, that extra hour of sunlight at 9:00 tonight is going to be great. Extra hour is in quotes because we dont get an extra hour. You get exactly the same number of hours of daylight regardless of what your clock says. If you get up early, you enjoy the sunrise and a nice quick round of golf. If youre a lazy POS, you get to enjoy the hour of light in the middle of the night, when youre probably inside watching television anyway. There is the added bonus that I get to explain to my 4 year old why hes going to bed when its still light outside. Im sure the farmers out doing that night cow milking appreciate it. Less than 2% of the US population works in agriculture, by the way.
