Im so tired of the drama over this & people calling for a boycott of Cracker Barrel. I dont eat their greasy, salty food so I could care less about a boycott. This former employee stole food from to give to a homeless guy. Its against company policy - end of story. He KNEW the company policy & that what he was doing was wrong. The fact that he is a veteran has nothing to do with the incident, yet media outlets keep mentioning that to garner sympathy & demonize Cracker Barrel. Take out the fact that he gave the food to a homeless man (which is irrelevant too) & you have a 73 year old, who doesnt have sense enough to follow the rules. What he should have done was buy the food then donate it to the homeless man & thered be no issue. He also could have ASKED his manager if he could give the man some food. You cant give away things that dont belong to you. He fired himself really & hes been around long enough to know better. If he were a teenager, everyone would agree with the firing, but since hes a senior its OK? Please. I dont like that he was fired, but stealing is wrong, no matter the reason:
