Im stoked that my buddy Eric Buss caught this and recognized my Grandad George Carter. Grandads photo is 2nd from the last. My Grandad is the dark haired man next to the bikini girl. He would have LOVED that too. This photo touches my heart. Grandad had a rough time telling the story behind this picture. The man that he and a friend are helping out of the water, almost drowned. He said the heavy gear made it hard for even an experienced swimmer to get out. He heard his friend gurgling and yelling help me, George. It just so happened that Grandad was on a boat with a journalist for Stars and Stripes magazine. Thats how he wound up in several photos that show up now and then in magazines and newspapers.
