Im struggling to phrase this in an unbiased way, but please, indulge me. . . If someone gets fired from their job, is your first question to them What did you do to get let go? or What caused your employer to go around firing people like you? A series of questions can lead you to the latter, but only after a few initial inquiries. Thats because the vast majority of firings are the result of the employee, not employer. Im truly having a difficult time explaining this, but here is the heart of the matter for me: If someone has a confrontation with law enforcement, Im going to ask what they did wrong, not why they were unfairly targeted. If police use deadly force, Im going to ask what a person did to prompt this, not why an officer spontaneously decided to execute someone.
