Im sure some of my animal enthusiast friends are going to disagree with me on this, but here it is. I hate all the cutesie lingo used by animal groups and pet people. For example: fur kids, fur babies, furever home, purrfect. You get the idea. As an animal lover and sometimes advocate, I feel misrepresented when people use these terms. I think calling my cats my fur kids is just the last nail in the coffin of hoping anyone will ever take me seriously ever. Yes, I have a ton of cats. Yes, I love them more than I love humans. Yes, they are as important to me as your human children are to you, because I dont have human children. However, I feel that calling them what they are, cats, is sufficient. Calling my pet a cat or dog instead of my kid does not diminish their significance. I dont have to assign a new fake term to convey their importance. People who know animal lovers already know how much we love and rely on our pets. Yes, they are family, but they are not kids. They are not kids! YOU SOUND LIKE A NUT WHEN YOU CALL YOUR CAT OR DOG YOUR FUR KID. PLEASE STOP!
