Im sure some of you are secretly relieved that tomorrow is October 1st, so that I will stop with the Childhood Cancer Awareness posts. This cause is near and dear to my heart, and always has been. Well before Kelsey was ever diagnosed with cancer, I was an advocate for St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, and other childrens cancer organizations. Kelsey actually participated in two St. Judes Trike-A-Thons before her diagnosis of cancer. She still faithfully chooses to give her savings each year to St. Judes or the SC Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She hasnt missed a year yet. When she was in the 3rd grade, her teacher shared with me a essay that Kelsey had written in class. The assigned topic was If I had $100 dollars. The children were to write what they would do with it. Most of the class chose video games, toys, etc. Kelsey had written that she would give her money to someone to use to cure childhood cancer so that other children would not have to go through what she had been through. I still have that paper. Anyway, I just want all of you to know that my childhood cancer awareness rants are not posted to honor HER fight of this terrible killer of children. My posts are for YOUR child, YOUR grandchild and all the other children that are near and dear to your heart that are healthy. I pray that more people get involved to help raise awareness so that these precious angels can grow up cancer free. Remember: AWARENESS=FUNDING=RESEARCH=CURES! Good night, and God bless you all!
