Im taking my daughters to Lady Gaga tonight. Theyve seen Jay Z and Miley C this year. I wonder if all of these artists will be remembered as musical giants or pop icons like the Partridge Family, Spice Girls and Pat Boone--popular but musically not really influential or significant in terms of musical/cultural history. Perhaps these distinctions are only relevant to the music critics. I cant help it. Still I look forward to the show tonight and my daughters excitement, though the music leaves me a bit cold.
