Im the OP of the elitist MCB post. I wanted to make some clarifications. Im not racist: I dont judge based on race. Anyone with above a 3.7 (humanities GPA) is eligible to be my friend. Same with 3.0+ for hard science. I was just pointing out that due to my GPA requirements for friendship, my friends tend not to be ethnically diverse, and I wish it werent the case. I really admire smart African-Americans and Hispanics. So I apologize if I wasnt clear with that. Also I dont hate anyone. I just choose not to associate with people I view as underachievers, because I dont want to be brought down by friends who have bad habits (in my view), and either dont take school seriously, or dont have the tools to succeed. I want my network of friends to be strong, people who are ambitious and will be successful, and will be leaders in this world. Of course I wouldnt discriminate against patients in the real world based on their grades, thats silly. I worked hard so that I can be a top-notch doctor. But I dont want to be brought down by underachievers. Also Im being very serious, Im not joking at all. I wanted to ask you why it would be beneficial for me to attempt to be friends with people with lower grades. What can I gain from expanding my circle of friends by doing that? And yes, Im a female, and I would unfortunately have to dump my boyfriend if he was a liberal arts major whose grades dropped below a 3.7. If youre a liberal arts major, there is no excuse not to maintain an A- average. Also, I am not self-centered or selfish. I look up to people who have higher grades than I do, and view them as superior to me. I look up to people currently attending Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, etc., who have good grades to be superior to me. I hold myself to a high standard, and I just dont want to befriend others who dont hold themselves to high standards.
