Im thrilled to announce this evening that Middletowns legislative delegation has secured funding for the centerpiece of Middletowns new riverfront redevelopment, a gold, 50 foot tall statue of Middletowns mayor, Dan Drew. Half of the cost of the statue, $25 million, is expected to be approved at a special state bond commission meeting on Friday. The other half will be paid for by a new 25-cent toll scheduled to be charged to all vehicles traveling from Portland to Middletown on the Arrigoni Bridge. We looked at all the great residents of Middletown history, Rep. Lesser said in a statement, from General Mansfield to President Woodrow Wilson and every one was flawed in some way -- with the exception of Mayor Drew. And even better: we found a way to make the residents of Portland pay for it. Interested residents are advised to advised to call the Mayors Office and ask about Aprils Fool Day.
