Im tired of vegetarians and vegans being lumped together: it is no - TopicsExpress

Im tired of vegetarians and vegans being lumped together: it is no different than considering Mormons and Catholics to be the same thing. Sure, they both make others uncomfortable, and yes, some of the practices overlap. But at the end of the day, the mindsets are quite different. Vegetarians, despite their actions, remain carnists--those that believe using animals for the benefit of humans is normal, natural, and necessary. We vegans know that to be an existential fallacy. Vegetarianism is a diet; veganism is an ideology. Its the reason you know so many people that have dipped in and out of vegetarianism as it suits them. Youve never met an ex-vegan because this would mean that person was never vegan in the first place. One does not simply wake up one morning and say, You know, maybe Ive been thinking about slavery all wrong. Its probably not so bad! I think Ill make a cheese omelet for breakfast. But if your only focus is your diet, then you can change course as easily as you change pants without feeling the pains of logical inconsistency. There is no such thing as an ethical vegetarian. So please, stop talking about us like were the same. Vegetarians put a twist on the status quo. Vegans smash the prevailing ideology with a hammer. ✌️💜🐓
