Im totally bummed out and devastated to hear about the death of Jack Bruce on Oct. 25th. I cant believe I missed that news. Of all my rock n roll heroes, Jack Bruce had a special place in my heart and soul as a musician, singer and songwriter. When Cream came out in 1966, they turned my head around as far as what rock music could do. They broke all the rules, charted new musical territory and were clear innovators in the mid 1960s. Although they only lasted until 1968, Cream left an indelible, legendary mark on rock music. Jack Bruce was a virtuoso bass player, singer and songwriter of the highest quality and talent. I saw him play with Peter Frampton, Gary Brooker, Simon Kirke and Mark Rivera in Ringo Starrs 1999 All-Starr band in San Antonio and Jack was magnificent, moving easily from Procol Harum tunes to Framptons hits to Beatles songs and playing amazing versions of I Feel Free, Sunshine of Your Love and White Room. I will miss him dearly and never forget him. He was one of a kind and truly defined what a legend and a Scot should be. Heres one of Jacks greatest songs, Theme From an Imaginary Western, with Jack singing to his own piano accompaniment. God Bless and Rest in Peace, Jack Bruce. You were truly one of a kind, laddie! https://youtube/watch?v=D2GKT_P2Yro
