Im truly honored that Matt McDonough (MjDawn) has re-mixed and mastered one of my abstract tracks. He is my good friend and mentor, and I honestly cant give him enough props (I love you man). He is a deeply intellectual person and has a firm philosophy applied to whatever he puts his mind upon. No nonsense and an incredibly focused integrity. He has taught me much about the modern-art movement and various artists. He can write and produce amazing and accessible Metal music, being one of the best drummers of our age (Mudvayne for instance), and yet also creates incredibly lush and orchestral ambient works - check out AtmoWorks - atmoworks for this. And, you will not believe some of the new material he is working on with his new Metal band (I hate to use overly generalized words like that, but...) Audiotopsy. You WILL hear this on the radio and you WILL see this in iTunes and Amazon etc., and you WILL seem them touring. Watch for them. This is the new state of Rock as far as Im concerned (youll be hearing more about this later). Anyway, abstract and ambient music is a different thing entirely. It is more of a long trip or experience than a hit. Many different meanings can be interpreted and extrapolated from this kind of music, which makes it more of a personal experience adding to and combining with the intent of the artist or artists involved. It can be something to mediate with or to listen to while watching the Wizard of Oz with the volume turned off. It can make fine dinner music, like a good wine with food, or be on in the background while you are doing housework. In any case it is experiential music, in which YOU provide your own story and meaning. In our age of short attention span, it is often overlooked, sitting and having an experience that you must contribute imagination towards. But the reward in this can be profound. Here is the track mixed by Matt (a 20 minute experience). Im inspired to create more and go deeper because of him: https://soundcloud/tripping-on-mercury/unintended-excursion-into-a
