Im trying to wade through the new Farm Bill. Thankfully National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition has an excellent breakdown of whats contained in it. So if youre interested and willing to put on the mental waders and slog through it, check it out. My initial take: Looks like CAFOs participating in Environmental Quality Incentives Program win with increased funding max limit, while organic farmers continue to be treated like the black sheep distant cousin able to receive less than half as much. $450,000/$80,000 respectively. I mean, I guess its good theyll have more federal money to clean up their act (does that count as welfare?), its just too bad they have an act that needs to be cleaned up in the first place.
