Im undone and grateful all at the same time. A friend texted me right after work after seeing an elderly lady, probably all of 80 pounds lugging two suitcases behind her. She turned her car around and I met them on the side of the highway. We talked with R. and not everything she said was clear. She was confused too. She sounded angry somewhat and spouted off a few things that were all over the place. Unsure of what or how to get her safe and off the street, the police were called to assist (we were not leaving her) and they were there to make sure she didnt fall or get dehydrated or get back out in the road. Finally, an ambulance was called to have her evaluated ... like I said she was confused. More than once I asked her if I could pray with her and the not so nice language was repeated. I prayed silently for her anyway and as I finished my prayer, she hugged me, and made eye contact. She asked, Will you pray for me every day? My life is not too perfect. And I know God is. ... And with that, I prayed out loud with her and she thanked me afterwards, and I got one more hug before she left on the stretcher. And the officers were great, kind and helpful beyond anything I could hope for. Lift up this poor soul in prayer ... I cant imagine being her age and having no where to go.
