Im usually pretty mum about the back end of my business. I hear things all the time about people calling me too expensive or over priced I brush it off and giggle. I know that I have done my business research. I know what I need to price my services at in order to be a sustainable business. This isnt a fly by night hobby of mine. I have dedicated many years honing my craft and I study art on a daily basis. I am vested in my business. I respect what I do and I attract clients that respect it as well. And for anyone out there that doesnt understand what the photography industry has come to in the past years, allow me to let you in on a little something. Its crap like this that we have deal with... People buying cameras that dont even know what they are doing with them, slapping photography behind their name, just to try to make a quick buck. Pricing their work so cheap that the unsuspecting consumers thinks their prices are reasonable. Reasonable for who? Certainly not reasonable for someone who is paying taxes, insurance, equipment and further education in order to provide a service she can be proud of. People out there have become so desperate that they cant even take the time to produce decent work of their own. They have to steal. And when it hits this close to home. I have to say something.
