Im very open to changing views (esp. since Im very far indeed from being an expert on this), and Im in no position to give a helpful detailed analysis, but, in the spirit that Eric nicely promotes: Im fairly confident that its objectionable to call an argument, account, etc., lame -- as I have done in the past: this is something I would and will do differently. By contrast (to choose an example where many, including many who have thought about this more carefully than me, have a different view), at least as of now, I dont find it objectionable to write such things as that we are blind to this or that. I think the reason the one seems objectionable to me while the other doesnt has something to do with (at least largely) evaluative vs. descriptive uses of the terms in question: saying an argument is lame is pretty much just a way of saying its no good. newappsblog/2014/09/in-praise-of-ableism.html#comment-6a00d8341ef41d53ef01a73e11273f970d
