Im very proud of the person that my little brother has become. Hes so compassionate and kind. He heard about the story below of a young woman who is a victim of acid burn. Two unknown individuals doused her with acid while she was picking up her son from school. Her husband has abandoned her because of her physical disfigurement and her 5 yr. old child is too afraid to get close to her because the burn. My brother went to a Vietnamese convenience store in St. Pete to wire $150 to his friend in Vietnam who works for an organization that helps battered and abused women. The owner of the store asked my brother who was sending the money to, upon hearing this story, the kind store owner not only waived the wiring fee of $25, instead, he chipped in $50 from his pocket so this young lady could receive a total of $200 to go towards her medical expenses. According to the article below, her daily medical treatment for her condition costs approximately 25 U.S. dollars. I know she will physically recover one day, but emotionally, she will be crippled for God knows how long. Im sharing this story not only to say how proud I am of my brother, but I want to remind everyone that as atrocious and evil as some humans can be towards another human being, there are as many, if not more good and kind hearted people out there like my brother and the owner of the Vietnamese convenience store out there.
