Im very surprised by this verdict; not just because it offers a very interesting precedent for negligence in farming practices, but also because it throws into sharp relief how inadequate protections against incurring financial loss are for Organic farmers. Im fully in favour of GM crops and gone are the days when the Current Account was Australias primary economic concern, but the fact remains that overseas consumers, particularly the Japanese, will pay a significant premium for organic produce.
