Im working on my research paper and just learned this important information, esp. here at the beginning of spring, so thought Id share: A study done here in Chester County shown that you are most likely to get Lymes disease in your own suburban yard doing yard work, and the only preventive methods that showed to have any significant effect are to use some type of insect repellent before beginning your outside activity, and checking for ticks DURING your activity. If you wait until youre done and inside, you are just as likely to get Lymes than not. lovely. So, this is your public health notice for the week: inform your neighbors of this, so they do not call the mental health crisis line when they see you doing tick-checks every 15 minutes in your yard while doing yard work. Who knows, maybe theyll even offer to come over and check the back of your neck for you.....if you check theirs......Im still trying to figure out how this is supposed to work.....wear a bikini to do yard work so you can see your skin at all times??
