Im writing, of course. I dont think Ive gone more than a few days in the last ten years when I havent been writing. Some days I do more, some days I do less, but I average about a thousand words a day, which I go over obsessively until they are as good as I can make them. The closer to the end I get, the faster I go. Ive encountered quite a few people lately who have a skewed idea of what a writing career is: its not glamorous, we dont sit in our offices for a couple of hours a day sipping wine (or coffee) while we peck out our darling little stories and then spend the rest of our time doing whatever we want and being fabulous. Being a full-time professional writer is an all-encompassing thing. Your mind is in the book you are currently writing ( and youre always currently writing) pretty much twenty-four seven, so no matter where you are or what you are doing you are actually working on your book. It leads to a strange duality of existence (Im the mother of three, so I have to and want to surface for my children, but I have been known on occasion to give them some pretty weird responses). In other words, this career is not for everyone. But it is for me. I cant imagine doing anything else, and my only wish is that I could squeeze out more and more books. There are so many stories to be told! Which brings me to my question to you: are you liking the Charlie Stone books? Or do you like my single titles better?
