Im writing this morning. Working on my book over at Prolificate about the intersection of Business & Soul. Since its Sunday - a time when many Christians go to church - a place that purports to offer nourishment for the soul - I thought Id explain what I believe. Im glad we have organized religion and churches, synagogues, mosques... any place people can turn to feel a sense of connection to something greater - to each other. We need that. Connection. I have studied this for a long time, and believe that weve only just seen the tip of the iceberg so far. Soul is the thing that we seek to nourish and connect with on Sunday or Saturday, yet it is so much more. Soul is that thing that we are all a part of... I believe we dont each have one so much as we each share one - or are a part of one. That thing that connects us all is known variously as energy or spirit. I call it soul, but it is bigger than the word that we all know culturally about. As Im writing about how this thing that connects us – this soul – can be used - embraced really, to bring us together around a common cause... a business, a shared need, Im continually humbled. Its simply staggering how soul can enable us to do amazing things for each other and this world. My book is about the business world - how you can infuse your startup company with practices that unite and strengthen each person in the company, and help you communicate and act on an instinctive, intuitive level. You already know some companies that operate this way... whether they realize it or not, some companies... some organizations, just get it. They recognize - every person who works there - why they do what they do, and what they hope to accomplish. Im awed as this book pours out onto the page. It is so powerful - the amazing things that we can do collectively when we come together with intention around a cause that inspires us. Hopefully if you are building or launching a startup, youve found that magic idea that wont let you go - that inspires you. Think how powerful your idea can be if its shared and really *owned* by the team of people you surround yourself with. If you allow the team to connect with meaning around this cause - this idea, it can be transformative. The team itself becomes an extension of each person that is a part, their shared energy - this shared soul is each of them, yet it is something more. What is that? What got me so moved this morning, was that this soul... this energy... this connection can be seen, felt, and recognized. Its already there in the light of day. We are just learning about it through the fields of science and spirituality. Did you know that quantum field theory has proven that we are each made of energy - not solid matter.... Or rather, that matter is made of little tiny vortices of swirling energy. Energy. Were all made of something that always moves - and when energy connects with energy, well.... Connection. It is at the heart of everything you want or need. This, my friends, is evidence of what that connection looks like. Energy from each.... reaches out across the gap... and becomes....
