Image of the Day sportsecyclopedia/ Knocking Off the Rust Eight months after knee surgery, Quarterback Robert Griffin III returned to the field for the Washington Redskins as they hosted the Philadelphia Eagles in the first Monday Night Game of the season. During the preseason, the Redskins played it safe with the RG III choosing not to play him, and letting him continue to rehab the knee injury he suffered at the end of last season. However, in the early going it was clear Robert Griffin III was rusty as he struggled badly in the first half while the Eagles built a 26-7 lead. Griffin also lacked his usual ability to move and looked stiff and unsure as the Eagles scored early in the 3rd Quarter to make it 33-7. From there RG III began to find his grove throwing two 4th Quarter Touchdown passes as the Redskins scored 21 unanswered points. However, the Eagles would recover an on-die kick and hold on to win the game 33-27.
