Imagine coach charged with steroid possession NORTH PORT — A Friday traffic stop resulted in drug charges for a North Port man, but instead of cocaine, marijuana or prescription pills, he allegedly had in his possession a drug that has been causing prolonged controversy in Major League Baseball, according to the North Port Police Department. Tyler Anderson Hanshaw, 25, of the 1000 block of Ohana Way, was charged with two counts of possession of an unlawful substance, according to a report, after he was stopped while driving his black Dodge Durango near Toledo Blade Boulevard and Gateway Avenue around 10 p.m. Friday. The report states he was pulled over for failing to stop at a stop sign and for having window tint that was too dark. Hanshaw gave officers permission to search his car, during which a responding K-9 police dog turned up three vials of liquid steroids, the report states. Steroids are a schedule III controlled substance, according to the report. Hanshaw was an assistant coach for the Imagine School at North Port Sharks football team last year. Hanshaw was arrested and transported to the Sarasota County Jail, where he was released Saturday on $3,000 bond.
