Imagine overlaying a Renaissance ANNUNCIATION atop Hoppers spatial diptych beneath. The descending soffits on the left represent the Angel Gabriel whose message from God is referent in the silver screen beyond; and, from an accessible world, per the theaters seating (albeit not full), the Virgin Mary (or usherette) is pseudo-protected in the space-sequential offing of the shows eventual exit-effects -- or exodus -- and duly halod by the wall sconce. So too the mystery of her conception; even more mysteriously elevated (via curtained side stair) to views outside the original sin of mere mortals and aligned w/ the messiahs higher announcement yet to come to a humanity still at large.
