Imagine you live 950 miles from any family other than your own spouse, and then..... That moment when your mother is emergency transported by air to a medical facility 130 miles from her home due to what could be a fatal condition. Except you dont get a phone call from a single family member. Instead you learn about it when a family member shares a prayer request from a person youve never met before on freaking Facebook. Thank goodness my mother, who is lying in a hospital bed with blood clots in her legs and lungs, had her cell phone close by and could contact me herself. She is doing better and is in good spirits. But man what a kick in the nuts to read about randomly on social media instead of any heart to heart contact.
