Imam AlSaadeq pbuh gives us a clear guideline as to what to do if you hear of a claimant, did he say call him immediately a dajjal? Did he say call him a liar? May Allah swt reform those who are transgressing against the red lines that the Imam pbuh drew for his Shia: Imam AlSaadiq pbuh said:If a claimer claims, ASK him about the Athaem(greatest things)that the likes of him will answer Gaibat AlNumani p.178 قال الصادق (ع):(إن ادعى مدع فاسألوه عن العظائم التي يجيب فيها مثله) (غيبة النعماني: 178). A claimer the Imam pbuh wants us to becareful and by the way Ahmed AlHasan has over 800 questions answered concerning religion, jurisprudence and this is not including the many books he wrote which can form so many branches of knowledge. So why did the Imams pbut always condemn those who are hasty? Because they like to use the worddajjal on claimants as soon as when they hear about them. Yes, they are those whove perished before the Rise of Imam AlMahdi a.s. and failed the test and lost this world before the hereafter because they did not ask this claimant questions so that he can answer them or didnt revise his knowledge and the will he came with and him calling to the supremacy of Allah. Basically, didnt read anything about the claims, they flung themselves into the domain of scholarly opinions and sophistry because they didnt turn their heart to Allah swt and Ahlulbayt pbut to see what they said about him. In Gaibat AlNumani it mentions at several places that there are those whove perished because of being hasty before the appearance of Imam AlMahdi a.s. They requested the Mahdi from a way that he shall not be received by when he is granted for them in a way where he shall be received by. So just by simply following what the infallible Imam said above is sufficient to know the man of truth, its not hard but the people just like history showed made it hard for themselves. May Allah swt make us firm.
