Imam Ali (A.S) said on mimber in Masjid-e-Kufa: "Ask me anything you want to know, before you wont be able to find me among you because I know the ways of the sky more than the ways of this world" One of the men sitting there stood up and asked: "O Ali Which animals lay eggs and which of them give birth?" Imam Ali (A.S) answered: "Those animals which have visible ears outside their body give birth and those who has no visible ears lay eggs" Another man stood up and said: "O Ali! tell me which animals lay eggs and which of them give birth?" Imam Ali (A.S) replied: "Those animals who nurse their offsprings with their milk give birth and those who feed their offsprings lay eggs" Third man stood up and said: "O Ali! I want to know which animals lay eggs and which animals give birth" Imam Ali (A.S) replied: "Those animals who eat their food and chew it before swallowing give birth and those animals that directly swallow their food lay eggs"
