Imam Muhammad Musri, President of the Islamic Society of Central Florida is August Guest Speaker at the Beachside Democratic Club Monthly Meeting Monday, August 19, 2013 Meeting at 7:00 p.m. City Tropics Bistro, 249 Fifth Avenue, Indialantic, 32903 The Center for Peace is the dedicated outreach initiative of the Islamic Society of Central Florida that educates and informs about the true message of Islam and issues that face Muslims. The Center for Peace was initially founded to respond to the need for accurate information about Islam and Muslims after the tragedies of September 11, 2001, but also works to promote understanding and acceptance amongst people of various faiths and backgrounds. Imam Muhammad Musri is the President and Senior Imam of the Islamic Society of Central Florida, which includes ten mosques, a full-time accredited school K -12th, a child care center, a Social Services organization, and an interfaith/outreach department which provides hospital and prison chaplains and partners with various faith communities to promote Peace and respect among all people. He served for four years as the Co-Chair of the Interfaith Council of Central Florida. Imam Musri has a weekly TV program on “ISLAM”, and is regularly interviewed by local, national, and international TV, radio, and print media on Islam, Islamic law, and the culture of the Middle East. He was first appointed by Governor Jeb Bush, as a member of the Florida Governor’s Faith-Based Advisory Council and was reappointed by Governor Charlie Crist. "The Greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge," Stephen Hawkins. In that spirit, we will welcome Imam Muhammad Musri on August 19th.
