Immigration Reform? Border Security? No-just another example of the complete corruption of our Government. They have successfully manipulated many Americans hopes or fears-so they can get paid. Our money, our rights & our privacy are the sacrifice. Principles NOT Parties The Bi-Partisan robbery includes: doubling the Border Patrol with 20,000 new agents ($34 billion), 18 new unmanned surveillance drones, 350 miles of new fencing ($49 billion) to add to the 350 miles already built & an array of fixed & mobile devices-including high-tech tools such as infrared ground sensors & airborne radar & a bio-metric entry-exit system (25 billion). The private prison industry would make out-being undocumented would become a crime & a huge new internal governmental effort to search for undocumented folks would be created! Border security spending has already increased more than 50% in the last ten years-everything from 350 miles of fencing to military aircraft, marine vessels, drones, surveillance equipment, infrared camera towers & private detention centers. The loss of our freedom & privacy: The immigration bill would create a centralized database with photos of every legal US worker. It does this by combining the Social Security database -- names, addresses and Social Security Numbers -- with passport and state ID photos. The bill incentivizes states to provide photos by offering hundreds of millions of dollars in exchange for making them accessible to the federal government. The NSA Internet & cell phone surveillance programs are pervasive, but without biometric identification, the government is still only following artificial "identifiers" (Names, Numbers, IP addresses) rather than flesh and blood. E-Verify would enable such tracking. Technology already exists to "reliably produce the names of people in the time it takes them to walk by a video camera... in well-lit settings" with better technology on the way. With universal surveillance comes the capability for control. What is possible becomes probable. Power granted=power abused. From the The Wall Street Journal: The U.S.-Mexico border is more secure today than it has been in decades. According to Border Patrol statistics, illegal entries are at a 40-year low. Apprehensions of illegal entrants exceeded 1.1 million in 2005, but in both 2011 and 2012 the number was below 365,000. The number of illegal immigrants who escaped capture at the nine major crossing points from San Diego to El Paso fell an astonishing 86% between 2006 and 2011. All the talk-show shouting about America under siege from immigrants streaming across the Rio Grande is fiction. More than 21,000 agents currently patrol the border. Enforcement spending is up more than 50% in the last decade for-military aircraft, marine vessels, drones, surveillance equipment, infrared camera towers & detention centers. The value of all of this additional border spending is marginal. The security measures are offensive to American Constitutional values of freedom & human dignity. There is no reason for Americans to support the police-state measures & vast new spending that would be required to reduce illegal immigration to near-zero.
