Perkasa’s Ibrahim Ali on Sarawak’s blacklist, says chief minister The Malaysian Insider Ibrahim Ali is the latest politician to be put on the list of those barred from entering Sarawak, said Tan Sri Adenan Satem. “Dont ever try to enter Sarawak, the Sarawak chief minister told Ibrahim, after reports that the Perkasa president had slipped through Immigration checks into the state recently. In a veiled threat to the Malay rights group chief, Adenan said: He (Ibrahim) will find out what happens next time he comes to Sarawak. Adenan was answering questions today why the state barred opposition leaders from the state for the Balingian by-election, but allowed Ibrahim in. Adenan, during the by-election campaign, declared he would not allow “racists, religious bigots and trouble makers” into the state. While he barred PKR lawmakers Rafizi Ramli, Tian Chua, Zuraida Kamaruddin and PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail from Sarawak for the by-election without giving any reasons, Ibrahim reportedly slipped through the net. Ibrahim, at the height of the Allah row, angered Sarawakians when he suggested that all native language bibles with the word Allah be seized and burned. The state immigration department said there were no records that Ibrahim entered the state. However, there were claims of “photographic evidence” that the Perkasa chief was in the state and the photos showed him in a meeting at a local budget hotel. Rafizi, Tian Chua, Saifuddin and Zuraida were all stopped at different times at the Sibu airport after their direct flight from Kuala Lumpur. They were told they were barred from entering the state on arrival on March 25. Rafizi and Chua were travelling with PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. While they were barred, Anwar, however, was allowed in. Adenan said they decided to allow Anwar in not because the state was afraid of the international repercussion. “They have an inflated view of Anwar. We let him in because we are not afraid of him, the chief minister said. Anwars presence in the by-election nearly caused the PKR candidate to lose his deposit. That showed how much influence, or non-influence, he has in Balingian.” Barisan Nasionals Yussibnosh Balo won the by-election with a majority of 6,911 votes. He polled 8,194 votes while PKRs Abdul Jalil Bujang garnered 1,283 votes. Teresa Kok, DAP national vice chairperson and MP for Seputeh, reportedly cancelled her plan to fly to Sarawak to help PKR in the Balingian by-election, after being told her name was also on the immigration black list. Adenan refused to state the reason for the blacklist, but added the “persona non grata list would be continually reviewed. – March 31, 2014.
