Important Information: Alleged ‘abductions’ in Lewisham & Bromley Police are aware of posts shared on social media in the past few days claiming an attempted ‘abduction’ of a child in Sainsbury’s in Bromley and in Lewisham High Street. Officers have conducted a full investigation, examined CCTV from the locations and spoken to the person who made the initial posting and have been able to ascertain that there was no abduction attempt. Bromley Deputy Borough Commander Parm Sandhu said: I can fully understand that anyone reading or receiving the contents contained in this posting would be concerned, however I am keen to reassure them that it is false information. I would actively encourage you to pass this reassurance onto anyone who you know may have received the information, or have forwarded it on in good faith”. Lewisham Chief Inspector Graham Price said: We can confirm that police in Lewisham have not received reports of an attempted kidnap in Lewisham High Street on 13 October. “We would encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim of crime or have information about suspicious behaviour in Lewisham town centre to contact us so that we can thoroughly investigate any allegations.
