Important agenda items at 12/02/13 City Council Meeting! Public Hearing for proposed changes to the zoning code. There are many changes that are going to take affect, one of which includes a major re-write to Single Family Residential Districts. The proposed amendment changes Public Safety facilities in Single-Family Districts from Conditional Use to a Permitted Use. Also, the language for Public Safety as been amended to include health or utility facility. What this means: The City can now build the water tower, cell tower, and police station at Layton without having to get a variance from Planning and Zoning. This also means that the proposed Fire Station at Friendsville and Burbank Roads can proceed.
