Important dates for all Fine Art students: Email by Tim. Mon 7th April and Mon 14th April. Easter Break – weeks beginning. Tues 22nd April - Summer term begins. Mon 5th May - 1st Year Elective Module assessments all this week. These take place on different days depending on which elective you’ve chosen. 1st Years check with Module leaders for details of when and where to submit work for assessment. All students should have taken all their work and materials home by the end of this week – apart from large-scale work intended for the shows and assessment. Ask staff if not sure about this. NB: lockers will be stored in the containers and inaccessible until September so make sure not to leave anything vital in them that you will need over summer (ie passports!). This does not apply to the permanently installed lockers in the outer corridors. Mon 12th May - 1st Year End of year assessments and Studio clearance begin. All studio work to be finished by this date. All students are responsible for clearing and cleaning their own space. This includes removal of paint from floors and sealing all oil based paint marks on walls with oil based undercoat or shellac, to allow for top coat of water-based emulsion in all spaces. 1st and 2nd years assigned to 3rd (Final) year students to help with preparation of spaces for hanging work. It’s essential that all 1st and 2nd Year students help at this stage, as you are simultaneously preparing the spaces for your own exhibition after the degree show. Also you will learn more about the practical side of putting up shows if you help. 1st Year assessments will be going on at the same time at various rooms in the University. This takes the same form as your Mid-Year Reviews i.e. digital projection presentation with academic staff. Timetable details will be emailed and also available on the notice board. Mon 20th May – All shows to be completed by 6pm, Thurs 22nd May. Fri 23rd,- Tues 27th May – Internal Assessments. No students are allowed in the studios during this period unless you have installation equipment that needs to be switched on or off, in which case you need to come in before 10am and after 5pm. Any performances must be timetabled by prior arrangement. No Access includes the weekend. Wed 28th May - External Assessment – all 3rd years to be available at 12am in case the External Examiners want to speak to anyone – meet at Oscars. Thurs 29th May - External Assessment and Private View This will actually finish at 12/1pm (approx.) so that you will have access to the studios and time to prepare for the Private View in the evening. All back-up work and supplementary material to be removed before the opening. 3rd year Degree Show committee to organise help from 1st and 2nd years for the bar and sales staffing. This needs to be arranged well in advance Fri 31st May, Sat 1st June, Sun 2nd June – Degree show open – 3rd years to organise monitoring rota. Mon 2nd June – Degree show down. 1st/2nd year show goes up. Ideally all 3rd year work should be removed from the building by midday. If this is difficult it is also possible that you could remove your work on Sunday evening after the show closes at 5pm – this would need to be arranged with security beforehand. Tues 3rd June, Wed 4th June – 1st/2nd year show going up. Hang has to be complete 6pm Wed. Thurs 5th June, Fri 6th June – 2nd Year assessment. Students assessed in their show. Fri 6th June – Private View from 6pm. Mon 9th June – 1st/2nd year show- all work to be removed from building/studios by 12 midday.. Tues 10th June – Professional Doctorate hang begins.
