Important dates for the 2015 tax filing season: January 8: California Franchise Tax Board begins accepting tax returns. January 20: IRS begins accepting tax returns. January 31: Employers required to furnish Form W-2 to employees. Businesses required to furnish Form 1099 for services provided over $600 to all vendors and independent contractors. March 15: Deadline for corporate tax returns to be filed or extended. April 15: Deadline for individual and partnership/LLC tax returns to be filed or extended. Remember: Income tax liabilities must be paid by original filing deadline to avoid late payment penalties and interest. An extension to file does not extend the tax liability due date.
