Important info for iPhone users (4S an later): iOS7 is being released today, and offers some added security measures to deter theft. Older versions of iOS (6.1.4 and earlier) had no preventative measures when people wanted to restore the phone and wipe all your data. Sometimes after an incorrect passcode combo was entered 10 times, it defaulted into the restore mode. All the person who stole your phone needed to do was plug the device into a computer running their iTunes account, and they could have a new device all to themselves. Now, with iOS7, your Apple ID and password are required when doing a system restore. This should make the phones all but useless to thieves who end up erasing your data and assigning the phone to their own iTunes accounts. For more details, read the iOS7 review on iMore. Best of all, the upgrade is FREE to newer iPhone, iPod and iPad users. I highly recommend updating your software! And make sure you activate the "Find My iPhone/iPad/iPod" app in your settings menu. Parents, make sure you do the same for your phones!
