Important note from my Update today for those who are part of the US Military in Okinawa. This does not apply to all of you but those who are new to Japan. "Typically the only people we hear actually caught off guard by these storms are US military in Okinawa who have not lived in Eastern Asia their whole life and are not used to the frequency of major storms that hit the area. With that said much of southern Japan is built for severe storms and damaging typhoons. So more often than not you will not be put in a life threatening situation. My key rule is for them, when in Rome do as the Romans due. Dont leave big bulky light things outside that can be easily blown away during a storm. Also do not worry unless you see people around you getting worried, which does not happen often. And of course continue to check in with the Japan Meteorological Agency for your latest warnings." -Robert
