Important reminder: please dont walk a dog in high temperatures. Dogs do not sweat like humans to cool off and they cant tell us when theyre feeling too hot or too tired. This is Nina, she suffered heat stroke in todays 100+ temperatures. Unfortunately she was walked a very long distance and finally collapsed before her owner knew something was wrong. Thankfully her owner surrendered her to Valley Oak SPCA so she could get the medical attention she needed. Thanks to Officer Wright for getting her to Care Vet and Officer Phillips for transporting her to Tulare Kings Emergency Vet. Our fingers are crossed for Ninas full recovery. Valley Oak SPCA sees cases like Ninas and others of abuse and neglect on a weekly basis.
