Improved use of both brakes greatly increase stability. A lot of riders I have been observing put way too much pressure on the front wheel brake when coming to a controlled stop. This almost always results in varying degrees of instability, the most common being a handle bar shake (as the contact patch attempts to get to the lowest part of the road surface) and front suspension rebound/bounce. Much much better to reduce the pressure on the front wheel brake as you are coming to the actual stop whilst increasing the pressure on the rear wheel brake, this always results in a stable stop that looks and feels great. Video to follow.
