In 14 days Ill be getting surgery to donate one of my kidneys to my friend and brother, Dean Gardner. Ill be going to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN on Oct. 9th for surgery pre-op, and should be coming back to Virginia on the 23rd. Full recovery is said to take 6-8 weeks. According to my research, there are risks, but the majority of donors lead completely normal, unrestricted lives, save for extreme pain the first couple days after surgery. While I am scared, I am confident in my decision. I just wanted to give everybody a heads up as to why I may be out of touch for a while.
