In 1633, Galileo was tried and found guilty by the Catholic church - TopicsExpress

In 1633, Galileo was tried and found guilty by the Catholic church of heresy for continuing to advocate for Heliocentric theory. Over 200 years later, his book was finally removed from the Index of Forbidden Books, but the church (to this day) refuses to overturn their judgement (former Pope Benedict XVI going so far as to say It would be foolish to construct an impulsive apologetic on the basis of such views. In that light, I suppose we are right on target; 226 years after the first US Congress, a majority of representatives agree that Climate Change is a thing. Hell, weve even made progress - some of the people who refused to acknowledge that humans have significantly contributed to the effect arent even old white men! Then again, if Galileo were alive today, I have to wonder; between people calling themselves Skeptics in the face of overwhelming scientific agreement and our post-atomic age pathological fear of SCIENCE!, would he even call it progress?
