In 1817 Doctor James Lynch OConnor landed in Trinidad, at the Port - TopicsExpress

In 1817 Doctor James Lynch OConnor landed in Trinidad, at the Port of Spain waterfront. He was a doctor serving in the British Army at Waterloo and with that war ended, he was sent to Trinidad as the first surgeon to the British Garrison here. The Brits had only been here for 20 years, having captured the island from Spain in 1797 (The Spanish simply capitulated). In two years time we can celebrate the Bicentennial of James Lynch OConnors arrival here. What say you? Should we begin a commemoration of this? Some research is needed, The original Papers are all in the Archives at NALIS and we access to them, to get the exact date. We should land again and proceed forthwith to see the Governor (now called the President, we believe!), and arrange other suitable festivities for the occasion. All descendants will need to be here, returning from other lands. First, Lana is Eamons Daughter (Eamon was my first cousin, Dads brothers son), and Lana has been talking to me about getting a copy of the family tree. James, Lana and I can start the Trinidad research and call- ups. Niall, can you stand by in England, and Doreen and Roger in NY begin plans there? How do we do this? I guess we will need a FB page, a web site, and a copy of the Family Tree, so people can check if they belong. Over to you guys......
