In 1857, Dr. William Pitts was on a stagecoach ride near Bradford, Iowa when he passed through a little valley where he pictured a little brown church. He wasnt at peace until later at home, he wrote the old hymn, The Church in the Wildwood. He didnt pass by that area again until 1862.
