In 1954 the Supreme Court said racially segregated schools - TopicsExpress

In 1954 the Supreme Court said racially segregated schools violates the Constitution even if they equally provide for their students. In 1972 busing was used to force integration of schools so that no school would be all Black or all White. In 2014, we are back to separate but equal schools. The Tennessee legislature targeted Shelby County and allowed each small town within this County to have a separate School system. Ray Charles can see this is segregation in a different package. However it is not over. The government is systematically dismantling this school system which is the only predominately Black system in the State. If it works with the schools, they will also start dismantling our local government which is likewise predominantly Black.
