In 1976, I learned that Sacramento Parks & Rec was organizing co-ed softball leagues for the first time. Not knowing what the demand to sign up would be, John Gurley & I, accompanied by some beer, stayed overnight in front of the Clunie Clubhouse to be first in line. The softball equipment was donated by Mr. Steve Pisarz, and my Dad & I coached. We pooled our money for shirts, orange with white kegs & taps on the back, based upon our affinity for draft beer. We went undefeated, and even p[laced second in a tournament held in West Sac. On the team were: Niki Zayas, Cheryl Nadal, Darlene Silva, Mary Sue Pisarz, Christie Jurkovich, Mary Lynne Lints, Ernie Tapia, Frankie Smith, Dave Pacheco, Terry Watkins & Darrell Smith. This three minute 8mm video, taken by Mr. Pisarz, has sat in a drawer for 38 years. Costco converted it, I brightened it due to the twilight nature of the game, and added music. Here we go!
