In 1980 Ronald Reagan was considered too conservative by the Washington Elite and the pundits. The attempt was made to broker the republican convention, override the will of the republican voters, and place the candidate that was one of them in the race. As it turns out, one of them means not one of us. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of a hand full of Americans in the party, that attempt was defeated. The facts were given to the voters through the efforts of Christian based groups such as the Moral Majority and the Religious Roundtable. The American people responded to those facts. We had two terms of our Nation being lead by the same conservative American Principles that America was founded on. Jobs came back strong bringing the economy back from the brink with those jobs. Americas military strength increased and the influence of Freedom increased with it bringing a time of stronger global security. Most importantly, those conservative principles proved to be the right answer for restoring America to its greatness. Since then the method of overriding the will of the people has become to sit by and allow the left to attack us instead, even join with them at times. The GOP Establishment is more determined today on silencing the voices of the conservative voters then ever before, just more sly about how they do it. 2010. Rand Paul is considered too conservative a candidate. Mitch McConnell endorsed and supported one of them, Trey Grayson. Again, the Washington Establishment was attempting to override the will of the people. This time the facts pertaining to the race were being championed by Tea Party groups (still predominately Christians). Consider this statement from Grayson given to The New Republic and quoted by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC); “Two weeks before the primary, Grayson ran an ad in which McConnell, who is more feared than loved in Kentucky, declared that he needed Trey Grayson at his side in Congress. ‘We never will know this for sure, but that ad goes up, it’s our final ad, and then, boom, Rand goes through the roof and beats me by twenty points.’” That had more to do with conservative principles then anything. The ad just made those principles more obvious. Thanks to the efforts of conservative groups, conservative principles won again, and now we have a potential presidential candidate (one of a few) standing on Constitutional Conservative Principles. Rand Paul has proven that a freshman senator in Washington, standing on Conservative Principles, can accomplish more in restoring those principles then a 30 year senior Establishment senator, with a leadership position, can. It is the principles that make the difference. Here are the facts. America came to be because God fearing courageous people of strong moral character, who shared the same beliefs that we conservatives do today, left England and traveled to a new land, wanting to live their lives based on those principles. Our Independence was fought for and won by these people. They designed a system of government, based on those principles, that can only work as it was intended by electing men and women of the same courage, moral character, believing and standing on the same Christian based principles. Matt Bevin fits this description, Christian and Conservative Principles are the only things that can restore America to the land of our birth, and the land of our heritage. It is time to fight the damage done by the separation of church and state fallacy with restoration of church and state reality. Time to elect men and women that our Founders would have approved of. Brother Johnny Embry points out (rightly so) that prayer works, but God still expects us to do our part. It doesnt matter what you are able to do, do it. Yard signs and bumper stickers, do it. Make a contribution, do it. Attend the events, do it. Posts support for Matt Bevin in local groups (like local tv stations), do it. We can all pray. There is much more riding on this primary then just the election. Founding American Principles are at stake. God Bless America. Please feel free to share if you agree with this. Chuck Webb
